Air Conditioner Services: Fort Myers, Naples & Estero

The FL Green Team proudly offers two of the top rated air conditioning brands available – Trane and Rheem.  All Trane and Rheem systems we offer carry a full 10 year warranty.

Trane Air Conditioners

Trane Air ConditionersTrane’s new Hyperion air conditioner system sets it apart from its competition.  The Hyperion system offers an all-plastic air handler cabinet that will never corrode and an all aluminum air coil that is much more durable than conventional copper coils.  The variable speed fan motor and the electronic expansion meter device provide efficiency ratings up to 20 SEER.  We're sure you have heard the Trane tag line "You can’t stop a Trane”, and it's the truth.

Rheem Air Conditioners

Rheem Team ConditionersRheem air conditioners offer the best value of almost any air conditioning system on the market.  In the latest "Product Reliability Survey,” Rheem was rated #1 in July 2009 by over 32,000 readers of a national product testing publication.  Rheem air conditioning systems offer great benefits and reliability, with efficiency ratings ranging from 13 SEER to 19.5 SEER. When you factor in rebates from FP&L, Rheem and the federal tax credit, they typically end up costing less than lower quality units.

Air Conditioner Replacement

We understand that replacing an air conditioning system can be an overwhelming task.  There are single stage systems, variable speed air handlers, systems with two compressors, communicating versus non-communicating, Air Conditioner Replacement humidity control thermostats and so on.  We do our best to help you decide which system is best for your home.  If you are a Fort Myers winter resident and your monthly electric bills are under $50.00, it makes little sense to install a super high efficiency system that is most beneficial in the months when you are up north.  On the other hand, if your electric bills are very high or your Fort Myers or Naples area home has hot or cold spots, we have a variety of air conditioning systems that can make your home more comfortable and energy efficient.

Properly Sizing Your Air Conditioner

Whole House Approach. The FL Green Team takes a “whole house approach” to your Florida cooling and heating system. As Florida State Certified Energy Raters, we complete a ductwork analysis to check for leaks and ensure proper sizing. A staggering 75% of Florida’s existing homes were found to have between 30% and 50% leakage from their HVAC system ducts to the outside of the home according to data collected by Florida utility companies. This high percentage of leakage causes a homeowner’s air conditioner to run longer and harder to cool the house, resulting in higher electric bills and the homeowner feeling less comfortable. Leaky ductwork can lead to hot and cold spots in your home as well as humidity issues. Installing a new high efficiency air conditioning system without proper ductwork will only waste cold air in your attic and pull in warm air on the return side.

Manual J Load Calculations: Properly Sizing your Air Conditioner. If you have altered the size of your home or already taken steps to make your home more efficient, the existing air conditioning system may not be properly sized. Replacing windows, installing window tint or adding insulation can reduce the overall air conditioning load resulting in your current air conditioner being oversized. An air conditioning system is designed to do two things: cool your home and control humidity. If an air conditioner is oversized, it will cool just fine but won’t run long enough to remove the humid Florida air which can cause mold and mildew, leading to health issues. Our staff will complete Manual J Load Calculations, certified by the Air Conditioning Contractors of America, to ensure proper system sizing. A “right-sized” air conditioning system for your home will allow you to maintain desired temperatures while controlling humidity and increase comfort in your home.

Preventative Air Conditioning Maintenance

Preventative Air Conditioning Maintenance

All air conditioning manufacturers recommend servicing units at least once each year to prolong the life of the equipment, help reduce energy costs and improve air quality in your home. Our certified technicians complete a 31 point inspection including cleaning the evaporator coil and replacing air filters. We offer annual or semi-annual air conditioning service agreements. Our air conditioning maintenance service agreements can be combined with our swimming pool heat pump service for an additional discount. To schedule maintenance, please fill out this form or call us 239-432-1500.

Programmable Thermostats

If you leave the house for an extended period of time each day, a programmable thermostat is a great way to help cut cooling or heating costs. You can program the thermostat to automatically raise temperature in your home while you are away and then lower the temperature prior to your returning home. Every degree you raise the thermostat setting can result in a 10% savings on your cooling costs. We also offer thermostats with built-in humidity control, eliminating the need for an additional humidistat.

Humidistats: Lowering Florida’s Humidity in your Home

FL Green Team advocates the use of humidity control systems to maintain comfort in our SW Florida homes. In years past, humidistats were primarily used by part-time residents only while they were away. Lowering the humidity in your home can allow you to raise the temperature yet still feel the same comfort level. Utility companies state that every degree you raise your thermostat saves about 10% off your cooling costs.

Control Mold in Florida Homes with Ultraviolet Light

Installing an ultraviolet light in your air handler can control mold and algae growth in your home, kill airborne germs, reduce allergens and remove odors. We offer several options for UV lights and will recommend the one that will work best for your home.

High Flow Air Filters for your Air Conditioner

High Flow Air Filters are installed at the Air Handler and are changed only once per year. This style of filter has significant advantages over traditional non-pleated filters. High flow air filters catch greater amounts of dust, pollen, pet dander and other pollutants more efficiently than other filter options. Better filtration and longer life make pleated filters a great value!

Air Conditioner Rebates, Incentives and Financing

We are a participating contractor in FP&L Residential A/C Rebate program and the FP&L Ductwork Sealing program. These programs provide cash incentives on upgrading to a high efficiency air conditioner and sealing leaky ductwork. Most air conditioning manufacturers offer rebates as well. We have special “9.9% Energy Efficiency” financing available for qualified homeowners. The chart below illustrates the incentives offered by FP&L and your estimated savings with the installation of new air conditioning system (FPL Rebates Chart).
